The Development

Planning Permission

Planning permission for the development was officially obtained in October 2015.

The development will comprise erection of buildings between 2 and 9 storeys in height to provide 328 residential apartments and 408sqm of education / community / commercial space on Sury Basin.

The development will include a new vehicular access off Seven Kings Way to serve the residents' basement car park, as well as new public realm and landscaping.

An outline of the construction process is below:  

  • 1. Demolition of the former Gas Works (works now complete)
  • 2. Decontamination of site and excavation of basement (works nearing completion)
  • 3. Sub-structure
    • The foundations and basement construction will bring the building up to surface level.  We expect work to start on the basement structure in late 2015
  • 4. Super Structure
    • The above ground structure will be built in three phases:

      • a. Phase 1 (Western Block along Seven Kings Way)
      • b. Phase 2 (North Blocks along Sury Basin) 
      • c. Phase 3 (South-East Block along the new Linear Park)
  • 5. Fit-out of interiors
  • 6. Landscaping and public realm works
    • Over 40% of the site will comprise of high quality public realm, including the new linear park

We hope for all construction activity to be complete in summer 2018.
